Six million people have died in the conflicts that have been raging across the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the last 13 years – the highest war toll since World War II. Millions of children have been orphaned. Although they live in a country rich in diamonds and gold, most of the people live in hunger. It is estimated that over 75% of the country’s population lives on less than a dollar per day. In the harsh battle for survival, usually it is the children who suffer the most.
